Dogs in Parks

Looking for a place to bring your furry companion? Troutdale and it’s surrounding areas provide numerous opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors with your dog. Be sure to follow all posted rules and Multnomah County pet ordinances.

Off-Leash Dog Areas

Columbia Park is home to the City’s only fenced-in off-leash dog area. The 1.6-acre off-leash area is in the wooded area of Columbia Park, south-west of Imagination Station and features a perimeter fence with three access gates. Dogs must be kept on-leash outside of the dog park fence boundary at all times and are not permitted at Imagination Station, on sports fields, or at picnic shelters.

Thousand Acres, officially known as Sandy River Delta, is part of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area under management by the U.S. Forest Service. It features plenty of open space, off-leash trails, and river access. Dogs are required to be leashed in the parking lot and on and within 100 feet of the Confluence Trail. A $5 per day parking fee or valid pass is required.

Lewis and Clark State Recreation Site, located on the east side Sandy River, generally only allows leashed dogs, but there is an off-leash area behind the restroom building at the east end of the park.

On-Leash Dog Parks

In the wake of extensive community surveying as part of the Parks Master Plan, Troutdale’s Parks Advisory Committee and City Council have modified city code to allow on-leash dog access in many of Troutdale’s city parks*. Dogs are permitted in on leash in the following parks:

*A notable exception to this list is Glenn Otto Park. Dogs are not allowed on-leash or off-leash in any part of the park.
